Enlist the support of your local Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop owner
According to the Ben & Jerry’s web pages
their franchise owners must be aligned with the Social Mission:
"Ben & Jerry’s operates on a three-part mission that aims to create linked prosperity for everyone that’s connected to our business: suppliers, employees, farmers, franchisees, customers, and neighbors alike."
Franchise owners:
- Are socially conscious, and active in your community.
- Are passionate about operating an ethical, responsible business.
In March 2015, VTJP sent a letter to all US Scoop shop owners requesting that they recognize the incompatibility of the Company’s Social Mission with selling Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in illegal settlements. So, we asked them to contact the Company’s CEO, Jostein Solheim, requesting a stop to these sales.
Apparently many of them did, but the Company’s reaction was to ignore the issue of sales in settlements and mis-direct their response.
So franchise owners should hear again from you.
Ask to meet them and respectfully request that they listen to our appeal to their social responsibility. Be sure they are aware of the boycott call, and assure them that their scoop shop will not be boycotted if they undertake to make it known that they oppose sales of ice cream from the Israeli franchise in illegal settlements.
